Palm Pic of the Day

Oooooh! Can we all say, "Ooooohh"? It's a Palm III. It's a robot. It's the Palm Pilot Robot Kit (PPRK) robot, from the folks at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon.

Okay, quick--updates:

  • Added a journal entry.
  • Added a message board. The link to get to it is the talk link in the navigation bar.
  • Also, see below? The pictures? Yeah, I've always wanted to do that, put the old pictures up, but I feared slow downloads for dial-up users, so I always left them off. Then I realized, yeesh, come on, Sandra, like a couple extra pics really make a difference, seeing as most of the people viewing your site would be coming here on DSL, a cable modem or through their school's ethernet anyhow. So yeah. So if you have a 14.4 k, tough.

As I told Capsun, it seems that the closer finals week approaches, the more my site gets updated. My brother Howard says my site "sucks" because it's a personal site. Well, yeah, it's a personal site, and I realize more people would come if it actually did something useful other than talk about Sandra, but I dunno. I don't know enough to talk about anything else. And nothing sustains my interest long enough. Well, I guess except myself, but that's because it's the only thing I can't get rid of. Like I wake up in the morning, and bam! There I am. I can't avoid it. Unless I kill myself. Hm....

Speaking of waking up, I had a weird dream last night. It was like one of those ancient-China action films, with all the flying kicks and fancy stuff. Only I didn't get to do any of the fancy kicking and stuff, I was a minor character.

Cow Advertisement of the Day

Great deal on previously owned cows! Only $9.99, ladies and gents! Come on down!
I'm afraid to ask what these second-hand cows were previously used for, actually. You never know about them farm boys from the Midwest. . . This one came from alt.cows.are.nice too, I think.

Anyone with info about the Love Hina yellow turtle, tama-kame, I think, email me.

Added yet another journal entry to the Thoughts section.

You know, sometimes I wonder why I bother to update. Except during ICS club elections week, when I got a LOT of hits because I put a link from my biography, so I got a lot, most of the time, I only get a hit or two a day or I don't get any hits at all. I mean, if lots of people came to my site, OR if people came to my site often, I'd see a reason, but I dunno. Actually, I think I need to provide more stuff that people would actually need, rather than just stuff about myself. But don't you all like my Pics of the Day (PODs)? What do you think? What should I add? Email me and tell me.

12-05-00 Tuesday

"I wanna be a MoO-vie Star" Pic of the Day Seeing as everyone seems to be into CoWs these days, I guess I'll put a cow up. :P I got this one off alt.cows.are.nice.

Like the pic of the day? I've got a whole series of them I plan to put up. :P I can't believe they have several cow newsgroups, but I can't find a single pig one that isn't some sick porn thing.

Added journal entry to the Thoughts page about my road test on Monday. Must go back to work on my group assignment before my partner kills me. Oh, and whaddya know, he's a cow lover too, you know, just like about fifteen million other people in this world. Greets me with a "MoO?" on ICQ.

I also updated the Beyond Bad Things after Ross pointed out a stupid mistake on my part.

Reminder of the Day An HIV positive mother with her uninfected daughter. Photo credit : UNAIDS/Noorani

Hello. Above picture is the reminder of the day, reminding you all to be safe this holiday season. Today is World AIDS day. To learn more about AIDS research, prevention, etc. visit the Avert: AIDS education and research trust website.

Durn, my page has gotten a lot more serious in recent days. The deceased in Thailand, AIDs, etc. Hm... For those of you wanting a taste of the old days. . . well, let's hope the Christmas season will bring back the old Furby Hooker spirit or something.

11-30-00 Wednesday

Sad and Horrifying Picture of the Day Skulls of unidentified dead, stacked to form a bell, lay at a Buddhist monastery in Thailand.

Quick update, lots of homework to do. That POD frightens me. I can imagine coming to my page, formerly occupied by cute elves, Furbies, sorcerers, etc. and then suddenly seeing a mass of skulls. Oh well.

I'm running for ICS Club VP of Education, Secretary, and Webmaster. Vote for me!

I added a journal entry to the thoughts page. Enjoy.

11-27-00 Monday

Black and Blue Gif File of the Day This is the Bluestar sorcerer image, created pixel by pixel by Thomas Abrahamsson, founder of Elfwood. Geez, doesn't it clash with the color theme of my site?

My, my, my, the ants have taken over. They're crawling all over me. Read all about them, and the other stuff that's been going on, in my brand-spankin' new feature of the Thoughts section, the journal. Also, deleted links section. Well, going to delete it, and add new People section. There's nothing there yet, though. Just the page. Also added Fun section, which is actually, basically the links page. I wanna do more but I'm tired. Goodnight.

Hi. I wrote the above paragraph at 4 in the morning. I got about 3 hours of sleep, and then went to school. It's now 10am. Anyway, just wanna say I fixed the Things page. The Bad and Beyond Bad pages are finally up. I'd been getting 404 errors because I had the pages down, but forgot to upload 'em. :P

11-21-00 Tuesday

Self-Esteem Booster of the Day Nothing like starting the morning off with the horoscopes.

Definitely weird, huh? Geez, I'm updating often, aren't I? :P Anyway, forget about Elly. New pic of the day (POD) now. I got it in an email forward from Jill. It's a bit vulgar here and there, so I guess my site's maybe PG-13 instead of G now? I don't know, actually. Anyway, I'm thinking of redoing the navigation stuff, and maybe adding a journal to this site, and adding a page especially for old PODs.

11-18-00 Saturday

Elf Pic of the Day Poor Elly, sitting here waiting for her wings. Can someone help her out?

Elly needs some wings. I've been giving her all kinds of sets of wings, but they're too ugly to scan in and post up on this site. So I just scanned this one sketch of her sitting here, waiting for her wings.

Here's the deal. Help her (and me) by drawing her some wings. You can color her too, if you want. I've been coloring her purple in some of my other drawings of her, and grey with magenta hair in others. Anyway, you pick. Just get us some wings, and we'll post your pic up, and you'll be a hero(ine) and Elly will love you forever and grant you some wishes. :)

Click on the picture of Elly to see a bigger version.

Fine print: You gotta agree that Elly's still (c) by me, even if you give her wings.

Fine fine print: Yes, I do know a part of her is anatomically incorrect, or at least odd, even for a pointy-eared, toe-less elf. If you don't know where, I'm not telling you.

11-7-00 Tuesday - Election Day

This is a sad sad day, ladies and gents. Gore lost. Bush won. *weeps*

Anyway, I'm going to Reno for the ACUI Region 15 conference, thanks to ASUH. I'll be back Sunday noon. I don't know whether I'll check email and stuff, and I probably won't be on ICQ.

As for webpage news...I updated some stuff in the "me" section. You can now view my school schedule and know how to contact me.

Idiot's Pic of the Day Yeah, with Mac OS, for instance. Thanks to Kawika for this pic, I think.

10-15-00 Sunday

Most of the links should be working now. Updated the things page. It's now all new stuff.

Anyway, I finally passed Dance Dance Revolution, AM-3P in Maniac mode! Woohoo! And not just some stupid barely-made-it kind of pass. I got a B on it. Yay! Three times in a row. But then, I went again on Friday, and I couldn't do it anymore. Could be related to the fact that I had to do it barefoot though.

Cute Pic of the Day Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the sacred Dance Dance Revolution arcade machine, beautifully depicted by the great Ernest Woo.

9-19-00 Tuesday

Is Sandra bored? You betcha. Why is Sandra bored? Because she really needs to be yelled at, or hit on the head, or whatever.  She's bored because she has a lot of homework to do and a midterm to study for, and she hasn't done any of that yet.  What the hell is the matter with her? *sigh*

Pathetic Advertisement of the Day Like it says, SSBs "give you what nature may have neglected."

9-14-00 Thursday

No, I do not make it a habit to write precisely once a month on the same day. It's a coinky dink. School's started a while now, it sucks, but I'm happy. Laters. :)

Stupid Pic of the Day

8-14-00 Monday

Moved house. You know, I still haven't found a good place to put my site. The best place to put it would be on my Univ. of Hawaii account, but they have a lot of restrictions on what you can and can't do because they don't want the connection getting clogged up. Anyway, so just moving stuff from other site to this site, a lot doesn't work since I've not moved everything. *sigh* I'm so lazy.

Scary Pic of the Day - The Furby Hooker. Does anyone have the URL of the site? I lost it.

7-7-00 Friday

Yeah, yeah, haven't updated in a while, I know. Well, I put up some new pictures on this thing. Actually added stuff to the me section. Lots of broken links. . . I know that's bad, sorry. Anyway's that's it.

5-2-00 Tuesday

NOTE: Only the photos link is done. To look at the other stuff, go to my Little Corner of the World on Xoom. However, the photos on there aren't done yet. So look at the photos here, then go look at the other site.

I've registered tentatively for the next semesters. Take a look at my Fall 2000 schedule and my summer schedules. I am going to take ICS 211 (intro to comp. sci. II) as well as ICS 311, and maybe 321 fall semester, but I can't register for them until I pass the ICS class I'm taking now, so that's that.

4-30-00 Sunday

Redesigned the place, yet again. Biggest change? It's not blue anymore. Gasp! How do you all like it? Actually, I don't know of anyone who regularly comes here, but Yang. So yeah, I suppose she inspires me to actually keep doing stuff to this page. Because if not, this page would have withered away long ago, like the half a million other pages I've made within the past four years or so. If you come here on a semi-regular basis, please tell me.

Hm, my brother just came in and said this site is horrible, it looks like the Office Depot site, which it does not. He says he prefers my Planet of Pluto (POP) site, which was my very first website, but I think I've since deleted it.

Elections

We won! Woohoo! The elections! We won!

4-17-00 Monday

As you can see, I changed some of this stuff. I was too lazy to type in the coordinates and stuff, so I never did the map area link thing, but I finally downloaded a program that does it, so here you go. [Note: I've since changed my site yet again, so none of the information in this entry applies now. 4/30/00] See above? That's the area map thing, so to go to each page, just click on the word on my logo. Like, click on "Home" to get to this page, etc. Oooh, look, pretty! There's a nice Hawaiian raindow outside my window right now. Ahhh...good day ahead, I guess this means. Well, happy surfing. If you have time, go take a look at the Xenites Hawai'i homepage. Jackie and I finally finished a preliminary bit of it.

Saturday, April Fools' Day, 2000

At Asphodel's request, I'm updating this thing. I changed/am changing my pretty background to this plain old one, because it's taking me too long to load. :P I added a thought too, The Secret to Happiness.

Saturday, February 26, 2000

New stuff: My school schedule. Also, I'm trying to change stuff from .htm to .html so if a page doesn't work, try change the URL from .htm to .html, or .html to .htm; also, a lot of the time, I might still have the old .htm page up, only it will be old, so you might want to try take a look at the other one to see if it's newer. Thanks for your patience, I'll fix it up soon.

Having a bad week, maybe I shouldn't have tried to quit the ICQ habit. Things haven't been good thus far. But first things first:

Dad--I doubt you visit my site, but in case you chance upon this, thanks for sending the tax stuff over...I really need it to fill out my FAFSA.

Happy early birthday, Kate, in case YOU happen to visit this site. Hope you're feeling better too!

You know what I was wondering a moment ago? How do I know whether or not I'm annoying? Because I'm sure everyone knows someone who's horribly stupid, annoying, no one likes them, etc. But, of course, we're all nice and put up with them, and so, the person never realizes they're annoying. Well, what if I'M like that? Because usually, the annoying person doesn't really realize everyone thinks that they're annoying...so...I don't realize I'm annoying, thus the distinct possibly exists that I could be annoying the helium out of everyone, and I don't even know it. Argh!

That's not why I'm having a bad week. Actually, I'm not really having a bad week at all. I'm having a decently good week. Well, no, how about this...I'm having a stressful week, and stress includes both good stress, and bad stress. Given my strange impulse to always divide everything into categories...

Good stressors:

  • ICS 111 midterm! So much fun! I hope I get a good grade, but even if I don't, it was so much fun, it makes up for it already anyway.
  • Genetics 351 midterm! I got my exam grade back, and it's very beautiful. I know I'm not supposed to be so grades-centered, but hey, it's nice to get good grades.
  • Psych homework/quiz: I thought the homework was due this week, and I'd forgotten, so I was trying to get it done last minute, and I did, and then I learned we didn't have class...so yay! no homework next week. And I almost didn't, but in the end I did get this week's quiz done, so I'm still one week ahead.
  • FAFSA--was concerned that I wouldn't get the tax stuff from dad in time, but I did. Hurray.
  • Piano...stressful, I'm crappy at it, but Mozart's Sonata No. 5 (I forgot what K. it is) is so much fun, it's worth it.
  • ICQ...it's been very emotionally-distressing that I've not been able to go on ICQ, but I've lasted, without opening ICQ! Hurray!
  • Art & literature forum...not too much stress, and still reasonably enjoyable, fun, interesting. Everybody--COME TO NEXT MONTH'S! It's the last Friday of the month, in Campus Center at UH.
  • Programming assignmnts for ICS 111.
  • Kate's birthday! Hurray! But...I still don't know what to get her.
  • I dreamt about Sid last night. It in itself was an enjoyable dream...which is why this dream is also going to be in my "bad stressors" section.
Bad stressors:
  • I dreamt about Sid last night...uh, I won't go into detail. In any case, it's...disturbing.
  • ICQ...I've managed to stay off ICQ, but I've not managed to do anything productive in it's place. :( And being off ICQ itself has been bad in itself...no place to let off steam, so I've been a basketcase all week. I tried journal writing to make up for it, but it's just not the same.
  • Spanish 303--AUGH! Too much work, I'm going to fail Spanish, I know. Sigh.
  • Campus Relations Committee...argh, I joined the committee, and now I realize I can't go to the meetings because I have class.
  • Piano...argh. I'm not ready for a lesson, good thing Mrs. Masaki cancelled the lesson today, but I don't want to keep on cancelling them, so I WANT a lesson. But I'm too crappy, so I'm not ready, and I've not had time to practice...argh.
Hey, not bad...most of this stuff is good. Well, I guess I'm having a good week then.

Wednesday, February 23, 2000

Thanks, everybody. I'm an ASUH senator now, as are Reed and David. Thanks!

My New Year's resolution is to be truthful and moral/ethical. It's working out okay so far. Have met many obstacles along the way (and it's only February!) but I've dealt with them all so far. Except one, but I'm...working on it...anyway, let's not get into that. As a sort of corollary to this rule, I'm trying to be good and studious and so forth too. Lack of diligence isn't exactly unethical, but I figure I might as well try for diligence anyway. So I'm not going to be on ICQ for a while, in hopes of studying and doing homework during that time. I don't know if it'll work, I mean, I was off ICQ last night, and I still didn't get much homework done, so...argh! But we'll take it slowly...it'll work out okay in the end.

If you see me on ICQ, message me to get off RIGHT NOW, and then don't message me anymore. Thanks.

Oh, and I quit playwriting class. Don't ask me why, because you'll get the same answer that I've given everyone who's asked so far: Because I'm stupid (and lazy). Though let's hope kicking the ICQ habit will cure me of the latter quality.

Thursday, February 3, 2000

Univ. of Hawaii people: I, Sandra Fan, am running for ASUH senator of the College of Arts and Sciences.  Be sure to vote for me (online voting only) by Friday, Feb. 4, midnight, when the polls close.  Go to the ASUH online voting site to vote.  Also, for those who know Reed Sekiya and David Ninomiya, vote for them too.  Thanks.  With your cooperation, we can make UH spectacular.  We need your help--so vote!

Woo hoo. February.  My brother's b-day is on the 28th, everyone remember to say happy birthday to him. He'll love all the spam, I'm sure. Anyway, my buddy Jill just emailed me some interesting pictures so I thought I'd just put them up now before I forget. Go take a look. Also, for any who may be interested, archive for entries from November 1999 to January 2000. Okay, that's about it.  Happy post-Groundhog's Day.

Thursday, January 6, 2000

How do you do? I'm Sandra. By request, I've changed the "Things" section so that it doesn't list last names, just the initials. And I fixed a few typos in the Thought Collection thoughts, as well as in "Things." That's about it. It's another vacation day that's why. Vacation day, i.e. procrastination day. I'm too lazy. But it's okay, because I've thought about it, and I've realized you can't waste time. Because no matter what, you are doing something with that time, you are living with that time, you are somehow changing, learning, growing--even if it's not exactly in the way that you want. So, you can't waste time. End of story. Happy New Year, everyone! Do you know I wrote the date up there as December 6, 1999? I'm living in the past. I wonder if living in the past counts as wasting time. Nah.

Tuesday, December 14, 1999

Today is my brother Edward's birthday, btw. I'm sitting awake, it's four in the morning, and Sandra is, supposedly, studying for her economics midterm. As you see, I am not. Instead, Sandra is typing these words. She didn't even make needed revisions to her site yet. Nay, too many finals to study for, papers to write. This is just a short break. Maybe I'll work on this some more over Winter Break. Yeah. Merry Christmas, everyone. Meeri Kurisumasu! Mele Kalikimaka! Feliz Navidad! Or happy Chanukah, Hanukah, I'm not sure of the spelling. And Kwanza too. Or, have a happy holiday season. Actually, no. Season's greetings. There, you can't get more PC than that. Or maybe. . . Okay, back to marginal cost curves and perfectly competitive firms. Marginal Cost=Marginal Revenue (MC=MR) if a firm wants to max its profits, people.

Wednesday, November 24, 1999--part 2

David N. just pointed out to me how ridiculously long the text on my pages are. No one's gonna read it, he says. True, true. Maybe I'll revise it. Probably I won't. We'll see. Anyway, so just a warning: pages on my site are overly LONG. Read at your own risk. If you actually read & comprehend it all, in fact, I might give you a prize.

Wednesday, November 24, 1999

Still sick. Aunt Melanie left for Hong Kong today. I hate missing class. Anyway, I've added a few more thoughts to my Thought Collection, but I'm still not done yet. Nor am I done with the Photo Album. I've been utterly unable to get my crappy, cheap Visioneer Paperport 6000a to work, so I've not been able to scan things in. I only have what I already had on my computer, which consists mainly of pics of myself, but no one cares to see pics of me, only pics of themselves, so, oh, ARGH! Well, if you should happen to fancy taking a look at what my ugly image is like, feel free to go to my

Photo Album. Otherwise, you can wait.

Tuesday, November 23, 1999

Sick today, so I thought I might as well tinker with this, since I finally have the opportunity, with my brother Howard at school. And for those of you who saw this page when it was really sarcastic and all, I'm sorry to say that's gone. I'm too happy now. I've discovered the secret to happiness, and so my site has become a tad, uh, mushy?

Saturday, November 6, 1999

Thank you for everybody's suggestions about how I could improve my site, especially my dear cousins Ben & Sara, and Uncle Clayton, and David Ninomiya and Todd Ozawa and, let's see...I hope I've not forgotten anyone, if I have, they might come get me. Well, if you all start noticing tomorrow that I'm not online much lately, haven't gone to class, disappeared from my room, etc., you'll know I forgot someone.

If I did forget you, or I missed something or you have more criticisms & complaints for me, I should be more than overjoyed if you would kindly bestow your superior knowledge upon my humble person. To start Sandra on her journey to html improvement, write to her here if you have something of worth to say, or if you have nothing of worth to say. Sandra likes hearing what people have to say.
